• Facilitate planning and roadmap updates with Partner Teams and Cyber Leadership finding points of intersection between the Partner roadmaps and Cybersecurity priorities.

• Act as an agent for change to reflect the latest Cybersecurity standards and practices.

• Serves as a enterprise subject matter expert (SME) and advocate of IT Security standards and reference architectures.

• Deliver training for clients in use of the key and certificate management systems, and automated environments.

• Act as a Mentor to both Co-Hearts in Cybersecurity and Partner Teams.

• Bring a focus on automation to the team, with a history of focus on Python, Chef, Anisible, GitLab, and other automation technologies.

• Responsible for vendor management, partner governance, and oversight to deploy systems which are complete, designed and managed over life cycles.
• Proactively identify problems, plan solutions, recommend software and systems, and coordinate developments in an orderly manner to meet business requirements. Including but not limited to: monitor and test performance and capacity for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with partners to implement fixes.
• Responsible for providing innovative solutions to proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability in order to resolve escalations of high complexity.
• In collaboration with Enterprise Architecture, sets the platform strategy and road map.
• Maintain awareness of technology trends in area of responsibility and makes appropriate recommendations.
• Meet commitments and deliverables as related to leading projects and/or project oversight.
• Responsible for developing and executing against solution strategies and business plans that support business expansion

EDUCATION:

Required/Preferred Education Description
Required High School Diploma or GED
Required Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience Business, Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Systems, or equivalent formal training required.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

JOB SUMMARY

  • The Human Factors Engineer supports the Flight Operations Safety Team in daily safety operations and responsibilities with an emphasis on Aviation Human Factors within our organization. The role of the Human Factors Engineer is highly technical and it focuses on the design, execution, and analysis of Human Factors research studies as well as the development of Human Factors recommendations derived from such studies. Other areas of the role aimed at supporting other Human Factors Personnel include, but are not limited to, applying Human Factors theory and principles to multiple projects/programs in relation to voluntary safety reporting, flight data monitoring, Pilot fatigue, and Safety Assurance reports/issues. This position works closely with the Sr. Human Factors Engineer in devising recommendations to appropriate departments, enhancing SMS components in Flight Operations, collaborating with other Southwest Human Factors Teams, the FAA, NASA, universities, and other organizations

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support Flight Operations Safety Team and Sr. Human Factors Engineer in daily operations and responsibilities with an emphasis on research of Human Factors issues and execution of complex data analyses and modeling across Flight Ops
  • Create/edit Human Factors centric educational information including articles, videos, and classroom content
  • Develop and facilitate Human Factors training
  • With little or no supervision/guidance: Design and execute Human Factors research studies, develop and validate metrics, and conduct comprehensive, scientific level, data analyses
  • Present findings and recommendations to different Teams within Flight operations by using different formats/media and tailoring information to specific audiences
  • Provide guidance to Flight Ops Safety Programs in the development of comprehensive data analyses protocols for the analysis of qualitative and quantitative data
  • Support the ASAP Event Review Team, Fatigue Safety Advisory Group, and FDAP Monitoring Team with Human Factors inputs, analyses, and recommendations
  • Support flow of Flight Safety and Human Factors information to drive monthly Safety briefings to department Leadership by reviewing data collected through all different Safety programs
  • Support Training and Procedures Teams by providing an independent look at company manuals for consistent procedures and use of the Risk and Resource Management (RRM) model, and prioritizing practical effective solutions to problems that lead to errors on the flight deck
  • Collaborate with other Southwest Human Factors Teams, the FAA, universities, NASA, and other organizations on grants/research studies to benefit training, procedures, and scientific innovation across the airline
  • Represent the Flight Operations Safety Team on behalf of SWA Flight Operations at industry events and as part of industry trade groups

  • Required: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience – with degree in one of the following areas: Aviation Science, Human Factors, Safety, or Aeronautics preferred
  • Required: Master’s degree in Human Factors psychology/engineering, experimental psychology, cognitive psychology, industrial/organizational psychology, systems/industrial engineering with an emphasis in human – systems integration, or related field

EXPERIENCE

  • Required: 3 years – A combination of experience in academia and industry conducting scientifically sound research related to Human Factors and/or complex socio-technical systems
  • Required: 3 years – A combination of experience in conducting qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods research
  • Required: 3 years – Of handling and analyzing complex datasets, including data cleaning, data transformation, exploratory analysis, and data modeling
  • Preferred: Published author (1st or 2nd authorship) in scientific journals/conference proceedings is highly desirable
  • Preferred: Familiarity with usability testing methods
  • Preferred: Machine learning experience, design of supervised and unsupervised learning algorithms
  • Preferred: Aviation industry experience
  • Preferred: FAR Part 121 experience

LICENSING/CERTIFICATION

  • Preferred: FAA Pilot certificate
  • Preferred: HFACS Certification

The NOC Engineer supports safe and efficient aircraft operations though the study, education, analysis and evaluation of airplane performance capabilities and functionality. Understands applicable regulations, manufacturer requirements and recommendations, Company policies and industry standards related to aircraft performance and operations engineering.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for takeoff, enroute and landing aircraft performance and weight and balance data as required by FAR Part 25 and 121
  • Analyzes aircraft performance to support the safe and efficient operation of the airline and conveys that information through performance and weight and balance systems, Electronic Flight Bag, Dispatch flight planning system, Flight Operations Manual, Flight Reference Manual, and other Flight Operations and Network Operations Control publications
  • Administers, maintains and provides validation and audit support for aircraft performance systems and supporting data, including the performance and weight and balance systems, Dispatch flight planning system, and navigational data
  • Provides support and training as required to other groups within the Company, including Flight Operations, Dispatch, Network Planning, Technical Operations, Finance, Supply Chain Management, General Counsel, and Ground Operations in regards to aircraft performance capability and regulation
  • Also provides support and representation to external groups, including airport   authorities, manufacturers, vendors, regulators, and consultants
  • Assists in the development and integration of new technologies into Operations
  • Helps develop and maintain software code for Operations Engineering to support the operations working groups
  • Facilitates transition of current operations engineering programming standards to future standards based on the best operational and business practices available
