- Supervises the operational control over company flight operations to ensure that flights are conducted safely and in accordance with applicable Code of Federal Regulations, Operations Specifications, and company policies and procedures.
- Responsible to provide guidance to pilots, Flight Attendants, Customer Service, System Operations Control and Pilot Training to ensure their operations are conducted safely and in compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations.
- Exercise judgment when variations are required from policy or procedure to ensure safe flight operations.
- Administer recognition and disciplinary action over company pilots and other subordinates.
- Responsible for pilot performance in all flight operation’s associated processes, including operational control, flight planning, navigation, exit row seating program, communications and ATC procedures, airman duties, carriage of cargo, aircraft performance operating limitations, handling of passengers and bags, weight and balance, hazardous materials, de-icing, approved areas, routes and airports, RVSM, and flight crew duty/rest time, airworthiness compliance, normal, abnormal and emergency.
- Write company policies and procedures for the pilot group in the form of memorandums and manuals that are both informational and motivational.
- Supervise assigned interns and other employees.
- Supervise management of FAA-required weight and balance records and auditing of these records to ensure they meet regulatory requirements.
- Participate as a member of the Emergency Response Team.
- Counsel subordinates on all aspects of their jobs and conduct hearings with other company departments, subordinates, and the FAA on operational and disciplinary issues, including Pilot Dependability.
- Manage the general administration of flight operations, including record keeping, distribution of required operational data to the pilot group and routine pilot personnel issues.
- Interface with other company groups through regular senior managementmeetings.
- Maintain currency through continuing education on all job related functions/information.
- Jointly manage the budgetary responsibilities within all areas of flight operations.
- Other duties assigned to perform the requirements of the position.
- Demonstrated leadership and managerial skills.
- Demonstrated negotiation and problem solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills, whether it be through speaking, writing or computer skills.
- Must be capable of staying trained and current in either pilot seat of company aircraft.
- Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Must read, write and speak English fluently.
- Must be able to work diplomatically with others in a high stress environment.
- Must be able to organize and maintain a schedule of required actions and execute them in a timely fashion.
Preferred:
- College degree.
- Have At least three years’ experience within the six years preceding the job as a pilot in command of large airplanes under part 121.
- Medically qualified to fly either seat in part 121 operations.
