The Director of Flight Crew Training, Scheduling & Compliance is responsible for developing and implementing a consistent and effective training strategy for Allegiant flight crews as it relates to scheduling practices. In this position, the leader will be responsible for bringing technology into the organization, overhauling the training scheduling practices, and building a dynamic team capable of meeting today’s and tomorrow’s opportunities to ensure we continue to build a successful airline that supports our team members during their training experiences. This is both a strategic and hands-on position that leads a small team with several direct reports, requiring experience in collecting and interpreting data, process and business analysis, process mapping, and process improvement execution.

Minimum Requirements

Combination of Education and Experience will be considered. Must be authorized to work in the US as defined by the Immigration Act of 1986. Must pass a Criminal Background Check.

Education:  Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Operations, Aviation Management or related field.
Years of Experience:
  • Minimum ten (10) years of experience in the airline industry with a well-established reputation.
  • Minimum seven (7) years of experience as a manager.
  • Critical thinker with a problem-solving mind and influential skills.
  • Strong relationship builder with experience building cross-departmental teams.
  • Experience in effectively communicating with large work groups.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate and present information in a variety of settings across all organizational levels.
  • Develop strategic presentations that represent data analysis and correlation to the business goals and objectives.
  • Demonstrated skill in staffing planning for large work groups.
  • Experience implementing complex software (e.g., ideally training scheduling systems).
  • Flexibility and able to multitask; can work within an ambiguous, fast-moving environment, while also driving towards clarity and solutions; demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities.
  • Proven ability to lead outstanding teams and build scalable, enabling processes that keep team members and stakeholders highly engaged.
  • Possess personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and commitment to corporate mission and values.
  • Skilled in personnel, budget and resource development.
  • Experience managing in a labor/union environment.
  • Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) knowledge and working knowledge of flight crew training scheduling practices.
  • Experience in handling audits, investigations and other governmental agencies requests.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products.
  • Experience as a Flight Crew team member.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English in order to receive and understand instructions, directives, and ensure safety, as well as the ability to interact with customers, is a requirement of the job.

Job Duties

  • Drive a team-invested culture and influence cross-company agreement on how to effectively manage flight crew training schedules.
  • Responsible for directing the training scheduling of all pilots including New Hire, Upgrade, Special Assignment/Instructor/APD, recurrent, transition, and de-qualification training.
  • Lead initiatives to document processes and ensure workflows are scalable to ensure we can meet growth projections.
  • Ensure training scheduling technology is implemented and meets scoping and business requirements.
  • Plan, organize, and implement a sustainable and scalable flight crew training schedule based on the needs and timeline of the organization.
  • Develop a training program for new software geared towards controllers, instructors, new hires, and line pilots.
  • Create reoccurring communication to instructors on scheduling forecasts to ensure we are keeping our leaders in training up to date as it relates to the training schedule.
  • Drive focus, prioritization, execution, and accountability for maximized training schedules and productivity.
  • Use predictive behavior tools to determine staffing decisions by analyzing complex data, identifying historical trends, and building forecasting tools.
  • Analyze Flight Crew Operations department performance against established key performance indicators, objectives, and critical measurements.
  • Prepare and present justifications for additional training resources needed to Finance and executives in line with growth projections.
  • Develop value-added reporting to ensure key metrics are effectively communicated to business leaders and flight crew team members.
  • Work with all stakeholders to build a positive rapport and work collaboratively to achieve company objectives, mission, and goals related to Flight Crew staffing, schedules, and productivity (e.g. People Services, OCC, Crew Resources, Finance, BI, Union leadership, FAA).
  • Ensure compliance with applicable collective bargaining agreements.
  • Lead department personnel and ensure the highest efficiency in their efforts, a dynamic team that works well together, is built on trust and produces results.
  • Ensure any direct reports understand and apply our Customer Commitment and customer service standards to their daily responsibilities as appropriate.
  • Model Allegiant Travel Company’s customer service standards in personal actions and when providing leadership direction.
  • Other duties as assigned.
