    • Manages and reviews the accurate and timely performance of month end reconciliations for the general accounting organization.

    • 8 years of accounting experience within a complex business environment.

    • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.
    • Bachelor’s degree with a focus in business administration, finance, accounting, or a related discipline, or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.
    • Broad knowledge of and experience within Finance/Accounting and Auditing, including GAAP, Sarbanes-Oxley and COSO frameworks.

The Director of Engineering Programs provides management and administrative leadership of the Engineering Maintenance Programs, Reliability Engineering, and Engineering Technical Publications. The Director of Engineering Programs reports to the Managing Director of Engineering.Key Duties
    • Provides leadership, overall administration, and general direction to the engineering programs department.
    • Directs operational excellence, oversees the reliability program.
    • Trends reliability for the fleet type and provides direction to the fleet team on areas for focus and improvement.
    • Directs Alaska Airlines’ engineering maintenance program.

    • Ensures engineering support is provided in the form of adequate maintenance procedures, required modification and repair instructions, and assistance in the correction of chronic and systemic problems.
    • Ensures all related aircraft maintenance program instructions, work documents, and control procedures are developed and administered in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations, Alaska policy, and industry best practices.
    • Sponsors and recommends new preventive maintenance procedures and reliability improvement changes in the interest of safety and cost reduction.
    • Serves as an advisory member on the Reliability Analysis Program (RAP) control board.
    • Serves as board member on Alaska’s Maintenance Review Board (MRB).
    • Assists in M&E system assessments by serving as an advisor when attending the following meetings: Data Analysis Group (DAG), Continuous Analysis and Surveillance Working Group (CASWG), Safety Review Board (SRB) and Continuous Analysis & Surveillance (CAS).
    • Stays abreast of existing and proposed Alaska and FAA regulations and forwards recommendations in response to proposed regulation changes.
    • Assists in the development of new or revised divisional policies and programs as required for attainment of M&E objectives.
    • Supports Safety Management Systems (SMS) within the M&E organization using the SMS policies and procedures as outlined in the SMS Manual of the General Procedures Manual (GPM).

    Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills

    Required

    • 8 years of experience in engineering (e.g., airline, shop, manufacturer, etc.).
    • 2 years of leadership experience (directly leading people).
    • Bachelor’s degree, with a focus in aerospace, aeronautical or mechanical engineering, or a related discipline, or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.
    • Knowledge of FAA regulations and oversight functions (for both aircraft and engine operating airworthiness certificates).
    • Excellent communication skills: verbal (both informal working teams and formal executive presentations), and in clear/concise written documents.
    • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to create collaborative relationships that drive outcomes in the best interest of the company with others in the organization and key external business partners.
    • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
    • Minimum age of 18.
    • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

    Preferred

    Required

    • 8 years of experience in planning, forecasting, analysis, or a related field.

This role works in a cross-functional manner to manage safety performance in alignment with established Safety Management Systems (SMS) processes.Key Duties
    • As the sole subject matter expert and thought leader in airport operations safety sets the mid-term strategy through the assessment and active mitigation of all potential operations risks.
    • Designs and implements innovative solutions to ensure operating division procedures, processes, policies, equipment, and facilities are adequate to maintain a safe and compliant work environment for all personnel.
    • Influences division and safety leaders apprised of developing issues, performance, and trends to ensure appropriate prioritization, resources, and action are in place.
    • Supports Ground Safety Action Program (GSAP) process review of cases where potential “repeat behavior” or “intentional disregard for safety” is present and liaises with divisional leadership and the GSAP leadership team.
    • Working with the Director Quality Assurance and Airport Operations Safety to allocate resources in support of Alaska and Horizon initiatives and projects.
    • Partners and advises with union team members, System Safety Representative, and Safety Committee members to drive continuous improvement, including input and partnership on initiatives, projects, and Safety Risk Management (SRM) reviews.
    • Represents Alaska and Horizon’s to outside trade and government agencies for ground safety issues.
    • Influences across company to drive continuous improvement in Aircraft Ground Damage (AGD), including monthly facilitation and ongoing oversight of the AGD Review Board, initiatives, metrics, and analyses.

    Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills

    Required

    • A minimum of 10 years of aviation or airline industry experience.
    • A minimum of 5 years of airport operations safety, quality, or operations experience.
    • Bachelor’s degree or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.
    • Demonstrated experience with Safety Management System (SMS).

    • As the sole subject matter expert and thought leader in strategy development and continuous performance improvement for the Seattle Hub (which includes all operational workgroups, including Airports, Ramp, Fight Ops, Inflight, M&E, etc.), this role designs and implements innovative solutions to address operational challenges, enable growth and scalability and identifies technology solutions to strengthen the airline’s largest hub and maintain a competitive advantage.
    • Define the long-term Hub strategy and process improvement plans to help the operation remain safe, grow and scale while continuously improving on-time performance, baggage performance and overall guest experience.
    • Construct projects/programs that promote continual process improvement, operational excellence, customer satisfaction, productivity, and financial performance.
    • Research and define performance gaps, risks and challenges to the Seattle operation and identify steps to take to ensure strategies and solutions are achieving goals.
    • Advise the VP of Strategic Performance and the MD of Seattle Operations to create effective Hub strategies and improvement plans to enable optimal performance and competitive advantage.
    • Partner with senior leaders across multiple operational divisions to define and measure key performance indicators and measure outcomes.
    • Make significant and impactful decisions around operational processes, tools, designs, etc. that set the precedent for future performance, leveraging best in market knowledge, experience, and research.

    Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills

    Required

    • 10 years of experience in project management, process improvement, strategy development or related field.
    • 5 years of experience leading complex, high-impact, programs from concept through delivery and sustainment.
    • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, economics, statistics, operations research, computer science, or a related discipline; or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.
    • Knowledge of and experience using Lean/Six Sigma process improvement strategies.
    • Ability to quickly assess a problem using live intake, data, and analytics to turn around and implement a successful solution.
