The Director of Maintenance is responsible for the overall management, coordination, and administration of maintenance operations at all Air Wisconsin maintenance facilities to ensure the highest level of operational integrity, compliance with all regulatory requirements, and a safe and efficient working environment. In addition, to ensure high operational performance, the Director of Maintenance will oversee the Technical Services department.
Essential Job Functions
- Demonstrates leadership, commitment and the promotion of a safe and secure operating environment as a core value of the maintenance organization.
- Plans and utilizes resources to meet operational and departmental goals and objectives.
- Ensures efficient scheduling and use of assigned resources to provide maximum, effective productivity.*
- Collaboration with the Director of Contract Maintenance and the Maintenance Planning department to ensure optimal productivity of manpower is achieved and adjusts the manpower as necessary.
- Oversees and manages Line and Hangar Maintenance Operations to ensure that all maintenance facilities are operated in compliance with FAA, OSHA and EPA regulations and Company policies and procedures.
- Represents Company in union grievance proceedings.
- Ensures that complete and accurate records are maintained.
- Responsible for providing leadership to direct staff to ensure the various teams incorporate continuous improvement methods to efficiently support maintenance production and the daily operation.
- Collaboration with the Director of Quality and Director of Contract Maintenance to identify and implement initiations to increase fleet performance.
- Advanced skills are required to use Microsoft Office applications and other software to create various reports and analysis relating to maintenance and engineering procedures, plans, and forecasts.*
- Team member in operational performance meetings with United Airlines and providing proactive and follow up data regarding maintenance’s performance and initiatives.
- Administers and controls assigned budgetary responsibilities and prepares monthly budget variance reports.*
- Attendance is considered an essential responsibility.*
- Adherence to all company policies and procedures.*
Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Aviation Maintenance or Engineering discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- FAA Airframe and Powerplant license preferred.
- Five to seven years aircraft maintenance management experience in FAR Part 121 Air Carrier operations, preferably in a union environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Problem solving skills, out-of-box thinking, persistence and a tenacity in following up on tasks and ensuring they are completed within the timeframe required.
- Ability to create, track and maintain a project plan.
- Advanced Excel skills required.
- AS400 and Showcase Query skills preferred
